OUR STORY
We are Nirav & Chaitali and have always enjoyed our travels and our food!
It was whilst exploring Asia in 2019 that we first tasted Lotus Seeds in local dishes and soups in Japan & China. Whilst crossing the northern Indian Himalayan border, we came across Lotus Seeds again – this time as roasted puffs covered in exotic seasoning that we couldn’t stop munching.
We were surprised that such a delicious, healthy seed widely consumed in Asia was relatively unknown to the rest of the world, so took it upon ourselves to investigate it further upon our return to the UK.
We discovered these ‘magic’ seeds hold an abundance of amazing health benefits and so started on our journey to develop this unique healthy snack.
After two years of mastering the craft of roasting and seasoning, Gorgon Pops was born in 2022.

THE ORIGINS
The ancient practitioners of Ayurveda, the ‘mother of all healing science’, used the seeds of Lotus flower (Water Lily family) to balance the harmony between the body and mind. Recently, this greatness has been rediscovered to possess immense health benefits and nutritional value.
We want to respect this harmony by creating a balance between health and taste.
WHAT ARE LOTUS SEEDS?
Lotus Seeds (also known as Gorgon nuts, fox nuts or Makhana) are grown from Lotus flowers in the calm lakes. They have been widely used across India and East Asia for centuries as an ingredient in cooking or popped like popcorn to become a healthy, delicious snack.
WHY WE CALL THEM ‘MAGIC’ SEEDS?
These seemingly ordinary seeds that have settled at the bottom of the lakes and remained relatively undiscovered outside of Asia, are not only incredibly tasty but are packed full of nutrition and goodness.
We have popped, roasted and blended these magic seeds with innovative flavourings creating a delicious fluffy, crunchy snack that is truly unique and different.

Our ingredients…
The lotus seeds are ethically sourced and carefully harvested from water farms in India where we have built relationships and support local farming communities by investing a small proportion of the revenue. Other ingredients are sourced locally from the UK. All ingredients are 100% natural.
Plant-based diets…
We’re passionate about plant-based ingredients and understand how important it is in making our food system more sustainable. Plant-based products use less natural resources such as land, water, and energy compared to animal-based products.
Our packaging…
All our packaging (including the outer) is not yet 100% recyclable, but we are proactively working on more environmentally friendly alternatives.

The ethically sourced popped Lotus Seeds are roasted for a second time to remove any moisture and then flavoured to perfection to give the Lotus Seeds the real flavour punch, making them absolutely delicious.
